Journey readings:
January 20 – January 25, 2014

by Living Springs Community Church on January 17, 2014

“The Journey” is Living Springs’ commitment to read at least a chapter of the Bible every day. We all follow the same reading schedule so that we can encourage each other along the way. And our pastors post occasional blogs about the readings to instruct and inspire us.

Want to join the Journey? This week’s daily readings are listed below, along with some questions to guide your reading. Sign up for the Journey blog, and you’ll receive the weekly reading schedule in your email inbox!

 Deuteronomy 15

What did the people of Israel release at the end of every seventh year?  What were the Israelites to be careful not to do close to the year of release?  In what year were servants or slaves released?  What were the servants given upon their release?

 Deuteronomy 16

What ceremony was observed with the Feast of Unleavened Bread?  What three feasts were the Israelites to keep?

 Deuteronomy 17

What was the punishment for a man or a woman who worshiped an idol or carved image?  How many witnesses were needed for anyone who is to be stoned?  Whom would the people go to decide any hard cases?  How was a king to learn to fear God?

 Deuteronomy 18

What was the inheritance of the Levites?  Who was the prophet that would come and be similar to Moses?  How would this new prophet be similar to Moses?

 Deuteronomy 19

What were the cities of refuge?  What was God’s rule for capital punishment?

 Deuteronomy 20

What three things kept a man from going into battle?  Did the armies of war want a faint hearted person?  What was Israel’s first step in taking over a city outside the land of Canaan?
