No More Excuses

Hebrews 4:14-16

Verse 16: So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

When Jesus died, the curtain that separated the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies was torn in two, from top to bottom (Mark 15:37-38). His death accomplished what the yearly efforts of the earthly high priest could not—a sacrifice that fully, perfectly, and eternally paid the price for all our sins (Hebrews 9:24-28). The removal of the physical barrier of the veil symbolized the removal of every barrier that separated us from God. The spiritual barrier of sin that distances us from a holy God has been taken away and nailed to the cross. The psychological barrier of guilt has been removed because our consciences have been cleansed. The relational barrier of estrangement has been removed as God invites us to come into his presence. The emotional barrier of anxiety and insecurity has been removed as we are invited to come before his throne with bold confidence. This complete demolition of all obstacles means that we have no excuse why we cannot experience the fullness of joy and power that God promises to those who live in his presence. We are free to live beyond the veil.

Are you living beyond the veil or are you still living with barriers that keep you from experiencing a full relationship with God?

Father, I thank you for the invitation to live in your presence. I thank you for the work you’ve done to clear the way. Help me to enter in and experience everything you’ve prepared for me.
