Journey readings:
January 28 – February 2, 2013

by Jim Tufford on January 25, 2013

“The Journey” is Living Springs’ commitment to read at least a chapter of the Bible every day. We all follow the same reading schedule so that we can encourage each other along the way. And our pastors post occasional blogs about the readings to instruct and inspire us.

Want to join the Journey? This week’s daily readings are listed below, along with some questions to guide your reading. Sign up for the Journey blog, and you’ll receive the weekly reading schedule in your email inbox!

 Matthew 13

How do the people see and hear but do not accept the word of God? How is the Kingdom of Heaven like a mustard seed? How is the Kingdom of Heaven like leaven (yeast)? How is the Kingdom of Heaven like a treasure in a field? How is the Kingdom of Heaven like the merchant seeking the pearl?

 Matthew 14

Who asked for John the Baptist’s head on a platter? How many people did Jesus feed with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish? Who walked on water to meet Jesus? Why did he fail?

 Matthew 15

How were the Pharisees incorrectly teaching the people about their money? What did the woman want Jesus to do for her? How many people did Jesus feed the second time? How many loaves of bread and fish did he start with?

 Matthew 16

What are the keys to the Kingdom of  Heaven? Why did Jesus refer to Peter as Satan? What death will some not taste till they see the Kingdom?

 Matthew 17

Who went with Jesus to the high mountain? Why could the disciples not heal the epileptic boy? Why should Jesus not have to pay the temple tax?

 Matthew 18

What is the meaning of the parable of the lost sheep? How do we handle a brother who has sinned against us? How many times should we forgive someone who asks for forgiveness? What is the meaning of the parable of the unforgiving servant?
